Stewed cabbage with beans

STEP 1
How to make stewed cabbage and beans? Prepare the necessary ingredients.
STEP 2
Wash the beans and soak in cold water for several hours or overnight.
STEP 3
Boil the beans in boiling salted water until soft. This will take approximately 50 minutes. Salt the beans 15 minutes before they are ready.
STEP 4
Place the finished beans in a sieve to drain.
STEP 5
Wash the cabbage and remove the top leaves. Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
STEP 6
Wash the carrots, peel and grate on a coarse grater.
STEP 7
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. To prevent the onion from stinging your eyes when slicing, rinse it and the knife with cold water.
STEP 8
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the carrots and onions for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
STEP 9
Place the prepared cabbage in the pan and stir. Add some water.
STEP 10
Simmer the cabbage covered, stirring occasionally. Add a little more water if necessary to prevent the vegetables from burning.
STEP 11
Cook the cabbage over moderate heat until just cooked through. If you have young cabbage, then 10-15 minutes will be enough. Winter cabbage will take about 25-30 minutes. Salt the cabbage and add tomato paste, stir.
STEP 12
Add boiled beans to the cabbage, add basil and stir. You can add any other seasonings and spices to taste.
STEP 13
Cook the cabbage over low heat until done.
STEP 14
Serve the stewed cabbage with beans, sprinkled with finely chopped fresh herbs. Bon appetit!
