Steamed fish in a double boiler
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to steam fish in a double boiler? Prepare the necessary products according to the list. Wash the lemon and dry with a napkin. Gut the fish and remove scales. I used trout, but you can use absolutely any fish or fish fillet.
STEP 2
Cut off the heads and tails. Rinse the carcasses under running water and dry with paper towels. Place the heads and tails in the freezer. In the future, you can use them to prepare excellent fish broth or cook fish soup.
STEP 3
Make cuts on each carcass as in the photo. Sprinkle the inside and outside of the trout with salt, ground pepper and the Italian herb mixture. The set of spices can be anything you like. Rub the seasonings over the entire surface of the fish and leave to marinate at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
STEP 4
Next comes the main stage of preparation. Fish can be steamed in different ways. I used a pressure cooker (which is essentially a double boiler). Pour a small amount of water into the pan, add the peeled whole onion and bay leaf. Wait until it boils.
STEP 5
Place the fish on a wire rack pre-greased with vegetable oil and place in a double boiler. Cover with a lid, reduce the heat under the pan to moderate and leave the fish until cooked. How long to cook fish in a double boiler? It all depends on the type of fish, its size, equipment and stove.
STEP 6
Within 20-30 minutes my fragrant trout was ready. Your cooking time may differ from mine. You can check readiness by making an incision on the carcass. If you see clear juice, it means the fish is ready. An important point is not to overcook the fish on the grill, otherwise it will become dry.
STEP 7
Sprinkle the finished fish carcasses with lemon juice and serve. Delicious both hot and cold.
