  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to steam broccoli in a slow cooker? Prepare the necessary products. It is better to prepare this dish from fresh cabbage. To do this, choose a head of cabbage that is rich, bright green in color and fairly elastic to the touch. You can also use frozen cabbage. To do this, you need to defrost it correctly: immediately place the cabbage from the freezer in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours, and then continue defrosting at room temperature. Drain the liquid after defrosting.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the cabbage well. I recommend using a special brush and vegetable cleaner for this. Broccoli has rather small florets, so a lot of dirt accumulates there, so wash it with hot water and be especially careful. Then remove the stalk and divide the cabbage into florets of the desired size.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Prepare the multicooker bowl. Pour a glass of filtered water into the bowl. Even though we are steaming and the cabbage does not have direct contact with water, it is still better to use clean filtered or bottled water, since steam is also a state of water, and it will come into direct contact with the cabbage.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place cabbage florets at a distance from each other on a special steaming rack so that all the cabbage is cooked evenly. Do not salt the cabbage: salt removes moisture and the cabbage will not be very juicy. Place the stand on the multicooker bowl and the bowl itself in the appliance. Turn on the "Steam" mode. As a rule, the standard cooking time in the “Steam” mode is about 20 minutes.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

If your multicooker model allows it, then reduce it to 5-7 minutes. The cabbage should remain dense and elastic, and not boil over. There are much more benefits in such cabbage. Season the finished broccoli with salt and pepper and, if desired, sprinkle with vegetable oil or vinegar. A tasty and healthy dish is ready. Bon appetit!

I steamed broccoli in the slow cooker for an easy dinner. I didn’t want meat, but delicious green cabbage with sauce was just right. The broccoli was frozen, let it thaw slightly, divided it into smaller florets and put it on a wire rack. I added a bay leaf and a couple of cloves of garlic to the water. Steamed it for 20 minutes. The broccoli became soft, but did not fall apart and held its shape. I didn’t add salt because I dipped the inflorescences in a spicy sauce. It turned out tasty and healthy.
