Simple shortbread with poppy seeds

STEP 1
How to make cookies? Prepare your ingredients. The butter should be soft and at room temperature.
STEP 2
Sift the wheat flour through a sieve and mix it with baking powder.
STEP 3
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and set aside a tablespoon of egg for brushing the cookies before baking.
STEP 4
Add sugar, salt and vanilla to most of the eggs.
STEP 5
Add butter at room temperature to the same container.
STEP 6
Beat everything with an immersion blender. I think you can use a whisk too.

Add flour in portions and knead the dough.

It may take a little more flour or a little less. The dough should be soft, but not sticky.

This time I had to add one tablespoon more flour.

This is how the dough should turn out in the end: cool, not sticky, and retains its shape well.

Cover it with film and refrigerate for half an hour.

Mix the previously beaten egg with milk.

Assemble a meat grinder, but without a knife. Chop the dough as shown in the photo.

We need fairly long strips, about 20 cm in length. Cut them off when you have enough.

Transfer the strips of dough to the parchment lined on the pan. Try not to crush it or overheat it in your hands.

Select a few ribbons of dough and twist the roses right here on the parchment.

Brush all roses with egg and milk using a brush.

Sprinkle them with poppy seeds on top.

Bake cookies for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees until golden brown. Determine the time according to your oven. Check the cookies after 8-10 minutes, maybe they will bake less, be careful not to burn.

Cool the finished cookies and transfer them to a wide plate.
