  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make simple gooseberry jam for the winter? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Sort the gooseberries, remove all spoiled berries. Rinse them well under running water and place in a colander to drain.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel each berry from the tail. The most convenient way to do this is with ordinary scissors. This process is labor-intensive, but I recommend not to neglect it. As a result, the appearance and taste of the jam will depend on this.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the gooseberries in a deep saucepan and add water so that it covers the berries completely.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Bring to a boil over low heat, remembering to stir the berries with a spoon from time to time.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

As soon as the mixture boils, pour sugar into the pan and mix thoroughly. Wash the jars in advance under running water and soda and place them upside down in a cold oven while still wet. Turn on the oven at 150°C and sterilize 0.5 liter jars for 10 minutes, 1 liter jars for 15 minutes. Wash the lids and boil in water. You can sterilize jars in another way convenient for you, for example, by steaming or using a microwave.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Bring to a boil again, skim off the foam and turn off the heat. The foam must be removed, since its presence in the jam will affect its color, taste and reduce the storage period.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Cool the finished jam and you can pour it into jars. If you want to get a more delicate consistency without seeds, you can grind the jam through a sieve. Store the jam in a cool place. Bon appetit!
