Step-by-step preparation

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Remove butter (margarine), eggs and milk from the refrigerator 1-2 hours before cooking. The butter should be soft and the milk and eggs should be at room temperature for a successful batter. Take premium flour, eggs C1 or C0. Wash the eggs with soap. Divide one egg into yolk and white. Using a knife over a plate, beat the shell in the center of the egg and split it into 2 halves. Pour the egg from one half of the shell to the other until all the whites have flowed into it.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

The yolk will remain in the shell. Remove the yolk until you need it. Beat a whole egg and one white with sugar in a deep bowl in which it is convenient to knead the dough. Since I don’t really like overly sweet cookies, instead of 150 grams of sugar I took 120. If you have similar tastes to me, do the same.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add salt, baking powder and oil. Whisk everything thoroughly until smooth; if small lumps of butter remain, it’s okay. This will not affect the taste.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

    Add milk and mix well.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

To saturate the flour with oxygen and make the baked goods airy, sift the flour. Add half the required amount to the bowl and stir. Next, add flour in small portions to achieve the desired consistency. When it becomes difficult to knead with a spoon, start doing it with your hands.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

The dough should be soft and tender, but not stick to your hands. Gather it into a ball, place it in a bowl and cover with a towel or napkin. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Turn on the oven to preheat to 200 degrees.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Take the separated yolk. Place it in a small container.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Add sour cream to the yolk and mix until smooth. The cookie brush is ready.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Roll out the chilled dough on a clean, dry work surface to about 1cm thick. Using a cookie cutter or small cup, cut out round pieces of dough. If necessary, roll out the dough several times to use it completely. A standard large baking tray from your oven will do for baking.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Lightly flour it, place the cookies on it and brush the top with a brush using a silicone brush. Once all the cookies are frosted, use a fork to create a pattern. To do this, create waves by lightly pressing the tines of a fork into the top of the cookie. Bake in a preheated oven on the middle shelf for 30-35 minutes. The time may vary depending on the capabilities of your oven. The finished cookies will rise slightly and brown.

Simple milk cookies turned out to be not difficult to prepare. I prepared it, strictly adhering to the proportions of all ingredients indicated in the recipe. The result was soft shortbread dough, very tender, and did not require additional flour to work with it. Next time I won’t add sour cream for the brushing, you can just brush it with yolk (with sour cream you got a lot of brushing, it would be enough for another serving of cookies, and the design from one yolk will be brighter). Baked at 180 degrees. After 20-25 minutes, the cookies were ready, but I moved the baking sheet to the very top shelf of the oven for another 5-6 minutes so that they would brown nicely on top. The cookies turned out very tasty, somewhat creamy in taste, and aromatic. Thanks to the author for a good and accurate recipe!

Unfortunately I didn't like it. The inside is soft, but the top and bottom are like crackers. Maybe you need to set the temperature and time lower; I baked it for 20 minutes.

I got very tasty cookies, aromatic and crispy. The dough is gorgeous, prepares without problems. I didn’t add sour cream to the shaving brush; one yolk was enough for the entire portion. Bake for 15-20 minutes. The recipe has replenished my stash 😍
