  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make gravy with meat and potatoes? Prepare the necessary ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

We cut the meat. In my case, this is beef, but pork will also work, just the cooking time will need to be reduced a little

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Now roll the meat in flour. This stage is very important - firstly, it will help us thicken the sauce later, and secondly, when frying the meat, it will retain all the juice inside

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place meat in hot oil in one layer

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

    Fry until golden brown

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

While the meat is frying, finely chop the onion and crush the garlic with the flat side of a knife. I don't use carrots in this dish, but you can add them if you wish.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place the fried meat in a saucepan, fill it with water and put it on the fire.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the garlic in the oil in which the meat was fried, wait 1-2 minutes for it to release its aroma and remove it from the frying pan.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place the onion in aromatic oil and fry until golden brown.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place the fried onions in a saucepan with the meat and simmer over low heat for 1.5 hours (the meat must be completely cooked, so the time may vary depending on the meat)

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

After about 30 minutes I added some Provençal herbs, you can take your favorite spices

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

When our meat sauce is almost ready, let's start with the potatoes - peel them, wash them and chop them coarsely

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

    Place potatoes in meat sauce

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Pass the remaining garlic clove through a press

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Add tomato juice (I use homemade juice), you can replace 2 tablespoons. l. tomato paste or tomatoes in season

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

    Solim

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

    Let's pepper

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Cook for about 30 minutes until the potatoes are done

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

    Bon appetit!

Everyone in my family loves gravy with meat and potatoes. My daughter asked me to cook it and I found a recipe on the website with an interesting addition to my usual dish. Here you need to first roll the pieces of meat in flour. I've never done this before. It turned out that this action makes the meat much tastier and juicier. The sauce also becomes thicker. Therefore, if you need a thinner gravy, use more water. I prepared the sauce in a slow cooker, which is both a frying pan and a saucepan) I fried the meat, then added the onion. My daughter asked me to add carrots, cut into cubes. Instead of tomato juice I have pasta. In terms of time, I prepared the sauce in the same way as the author. It turned out simply amazing! Very soft beef, tender potatoes and delicious sauce. The sauce thickened noticeably as it cooled. I didn't add any seasoning, just salt.

If you reduce the amount of meat in relation to potatoes, it will be “Irish stew”

Tell me, please, does the meat take more than two hours to cook?
