Salad Snowdrift
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make Snowdrift salad? Prepare your food. Boil vegetables and eggs in advance. To do this, pour water into a saucepan, lightly salt it and let it boil. Place pre-washed vegetables in water. And cook them until tender for about 15-25 minutes. Remove the finished vegetables from the pan step by step and let them cool. Boil the eggs for 10 minutes after boiling and transfer them to cool in a bowl of cold water.
STEP 2
Boil the leg in salted water until tender - about 20-40 minutes. Remove the skin, if any, and separate the meat from the bones. Let it cool. Instead of a leg like mine, you can use any other meat part of the chicken.
STEP 3
Peel the potatoes and carrots and grate them on a coarse grater.
STEP 4
Shred the chicken meat with a knife, cutting it across the grain.
STEP 5
Grate the cheese on a fine grater. For this recipe, it is better to use light cheese to get a more realistic imitation of snow. At first I didn’t take this into account and bought regular cheese, but next time I’ll take a lighter one.
STEP 6
Peel the boiled eggs, cut them lengthwise into 2 parts, carefully remove the yolks and place them in a small bowl.
STEP 7
Add chopped garlic and mayonnaise (about 1 tablespoon) to the boiled yolks and mix everything thoroughly with a fork until mushy.
STEP 8
Fill the boiled egg whites with the prepared mixture.
STEP 9
Start assembling the salad. A flat dish of medium diameter is suitable for this - you don’t need a plate that is too large to prevent the salad from turning out flat. Place grated potatoes as the first layer. Tamp it down a little with a fork and spread with a thin layer of mayonnaise.
STEP 10
Place the grated carrots in the second layer and compact them in the same way and brush with mayonnaise.
STEP 11
The third layer is chicken meat. It is better to mix it with mayonnaise in advance and lay it out like that. Top the chicken lightly and evenly with salt and pepper to taste. If you put dry meat and try to grease it, it will come out sloppy.
STEP 12
Place egg halves on top of the meat - these are future snowdrifts. Arrange 7 halves in a circle with the pointed side toward the center, and place one in the very middle of the salad.
STEP 13
Lubricate the entire salad structure with mayonnaise, including the eggs on top.
STEP 14
And sprinkle the salad with plenty of grated cheese. When prepared, the Snowdrift salad looks very impressive and actually looks like snowdrifts.
