Salad dessert strawberry salsa

Exotic, very interesting and bright dish! Salsa is a traditional spicy Mexican sauce based on vegetables and fruits, most often adding onions, coriander and hot chili peppers.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

The main ingredient for making strawberry salsa is strawberries. Take ripe and juicy berries. Prepare the rest of the ingredients. You can use lime instead of lemon.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the strawberries from the stems and wash them in cold water.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Remove the berries to a paper towel and pat dry to remove excess moisture.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the aromatic herbs well as well. Initially, for strawberry salsa it is recommended to use a few mint leaves, or fresh cilantro, or basil. You can also combine all the herbs together to taste. This time I used fresh basil, mint, lemon thyme and a few chives. Place the greens on a napkin and dry them the same way.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Cut the strawberries into pieces. The size depends on how big your berry is. If it is small, then it will be enough to cut it in half. Cut the medium berry into four parts, and chop the larger fruits into cubes. Place the pieces in a salad bowl.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Chop the red onion as finely as possible. You can use shallots or white lettuce onions.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Next comes the turn of greens. Cut it as finely as possible and send it to the strawberries.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Add a pinch of ground coriander to the salad bowl (you can take the grains and grind them with a pestle and mortar, this will make it even more aromatic). Add chili pepper to taste (use fresh or dry), add a little salt and sugar to the salsa. The amount of sugar depends on how sweet your berry is. It is better to use brown sugar, but regular sugar will work too.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Drizzle the salsa with lemon or lime juice and add olive oil. Mix the strawberry salad well, taste it and add the missing ingredient. Place the salsa in the refrigerator to cool and sit for a while.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Mix everything again before serving. If desired, sprinkle with ground allspice and drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette. Strawberry salsa is ready!
