    STEP 1

How to quickly fry tortillas in a frying pan? First, prepare the necessary ingredients from the list. Use premium flour. Kefir, sour cream and eggs should be at room temperature, so remove them from the refrigerator in advance.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

In a bowl, combine room temperature kefir, egg and sour cream. Add sugar, salt and yeast. Mix everything thoroughly with a whisk until smooth.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Add the sifted flour and knead into a soft, smooth, non-sticky dough.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If you are making flatbreads for the first time, it is better to add flour gradually and watch the consistency. Depending on the quality of flour, fat content and moisture content of kefir, more or less flour may be needed. Therefore, to prevent the dough from becoming rubbery, add flour in parts.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Divide the resulting dough into 7-8 equal parts. For me, each part weighed 115 g.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Roll out each part on a floured table into a round cake about 1 cm thick. Prick the pieces with a fork over the entire surface.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over low heat. Lay out the flatbread. It should be almost completely covered with hot oil.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the finished flatbreads on a plate and serve warm or cooled. Bon appetit!

Quickly baked flatbreads in a frying pan are a great option for breakfast. I prepared them as an addition to milk porridge. Instead of kefir, I used the same amount of yogurt. I used 20% melted sour cream. A little more than 400 grams of flour was used. The dough is soft, elastic, and pleasant to work with. It is very convenient that it does not require proofing. The dough rolls out easily. I fried the flatbreads for about one and a half to two minutes on each side over medium heat. The flatbreads turned out soft. When frying, they increased in size, becoming quite fluffy. The flatbreads have a neutral taste, making them suitable for anything. I really enjoyed eating them with cheese. Maria, thank you very much for the recipe!

Why use yeast if the dough doesn’t rise?
