Puff pastries in a frying pan with onions

Delicious puff pastry cakes in a frying pan! An excellent alternative to store-bought bread. You can serve these flatbreads on the table as a separate dish, or with soup, for example, borscht. Due to the technology of rolling the flatbread into a snail and then rolling it out, the flatbreads are flaky.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make puff pastries in a frying pan? Prepare all ingredients. To prepare, use filtered water at room temperature, premium flour, refined vegetable oil, and level teaspoons of salt.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour water at room temperature into the bowl for kneading dough, add salt and pour in vegetable oil. Stir until the salt is completely dissolved.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sift the wheat flour into the bowl with the liquid part through a sieve. By sifting, the flour will be filled with oxygen, which will make the dough more tender and soft, and will also remove unnecessary impurities and debris that may be in this product.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

First, start kneading the dough with a wooden spoon, and then, when the dough comes together, transfer it to a floured work surface and knead with your hands for about 7 more minutes. If necessary, you can add flour, but do not beat the dough, otherwise it will turn out very tough and tasteless. The dough should be elastic and not stick to your hands.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Wrap the resulting dough in cling film and let it rest for 20 minutes. After the specified time, the dough will become even softer, more elastic and pliable to work with.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Peel the onion, rinse under water and cut into half rings. Place onion half rings in a frying pan, add butter and lightly salt. Stir the onion with a spatula and lightly fry it for 5-7 minutes until soft. Remove the pan with the fried onions from the heat and let the filling cool.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Divide the finished dough into 4 equal parts and roll each part into balls. Take the first ball of dough and roll it out into a very thin round. Place the cooled onion filling on the tortilla and spread it over the entire surface.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Now roll the round cake first into a roll and then into a snail.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Take a rolling pin and gently run it over the top of the curled snail, making the cake flatter.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place the first flatbread in a well-heated frying pan and fry it over low heat on both sides in vegetable oil until golden brown. To remove excess oil, pat the tortillas dry with paper towels. You cannot fry the flatbreads over high heat, as the dough will not be completely baked. While one tortilla is frying, roll out the next ball of dough and follow the same procedure as with the first tortilla. And do the same with two more blanks.

Puff pastry cakes in a frying pan are ready!

I wanted to make some flatbread for a snack. I love fried onions very much) When I fried them, I sprinkled them not only with salt, but also with sugar. This way the onions fry faster and become caramelized. The dough, although unleavened, is very pleasant to knead; in the end it becomes elastic and soft. It also rolls out easily, resulting in a thin flat cake. After preparing the first flatbread, I concluded that the pancake should not be rolled tightly into a roll, so that later it could be rolled out thinner. The thinner the “snail” is rolled out, the better the cake will be fried inside. Fry in vegetable oil under a lid over low heat. The results were delicious, golden-brown cakes. Convenient to take on the road or on a picnic for a snack.
