Potato shangi made from yeast dough in the oven
Tasty and satisfying, this is the kind of shanga our great-grandmothers treated us to. Shangi is very good served with milk.

I only knew about shangi from the movie “Girls,” when Tosya listed what dishes could be prepared from potatoes. But I never ate them. And, to be honest, I’ve never even seen them. When I came across a recipe for potato shanegs made from yeast dough in the oven, I decided that I had to try making it. In essence, shangi are pies with potatoes, only the filling is not inside, but on the outside (like cheesecakes). For the filling, I used boiled potatoes left over from dinner, so I skipped the step of boiling potatoes and onions. Next time (and I will definitely prepare such a delicious dish again) I will do everything exactly according to the recipe. I heated the potatoes in the microwave, mashed them, added milk and butter and mixed everything. I put the filling on flatbreads made from yeast dough, greased them with butter and put them in the oven. Shangi were baked for about 20 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees. The potato shangi turned out very tasty and filling. I liked them much more than regular potato pies. The mashed potatoes baked well but remained soft. Thanks for the recipe! I will definitely make this recipe again!

Thank you for participating in the “Best Recipe of the Week” competition. Natalie, in the main photo it is not clear which dish of the three presented is the main one. Because three types of baked goods occupy exactly the same space in the photograph. Meanwhile, there is the main dish - it is always in front, the rest are like assistants in decorating the background. In addition, the plates are placed on a small piece of the windowsill. Blinds are not the best backdrop for photography. It is better to take photographs on a table standing by the window and in daylight - this way you will not have distortion in the color scheme and there will be no glare from light bulbs.
