  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook pea soup like in kindergarten? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Wash the pork (shoulder, pork neck will do). Cut a large piece of meat into 2-3 parts. Place the meat in a saucepan and add 2 liters of water.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Dry yellow peas are suitable for soup. Fill it with water until the peas are completely covered. Leave for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight. Drain and rinse. When the meat broth boils, skim off the foam. Add peas to the broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for approximately 30-40 minutes. If necessary, skim off any foam that forms with a spoon. The peas should be completely boiled.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the onions. Finely cut into cubes. To prevent your eyes from watering so much when chopping onions, rinse the knife and onion in cold water.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the carrots thoroughly to remove dirt under running water with a brush. Peel with a knife or use a vegetable peeler. Grate the carrots using a medium to large grater. You can cut it into strips or cubes, as you like.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour vegetable oil into the frying pan. Place on fire and heat up. First, fry the onion until transparent. Stir to avoid burning.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Now add the carrots to the onions. Stir-fry for about 10 minutes until softened. Add stir fry to soup.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Cut the peeled potatoes into medium-sized cubes. Add to soup along with sautéed vegetables. How to cook pea soup? Cook until the potatoes are soft. When pressed with a spoon, it should break easily.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Remove pork from pan. Let it cool a little. If present, remove the bone by skimming the meat off it. Cut the pulp into small pieces. Return to the pan. Cook for approximately 10 minutes. At the end of cooking, salt the soup. You can add bay leaves (1-2 pcs.), peppercorns (3-4 pcs.). Let the finished soup brew under the lid for 10-15 minutes. This way, the taste qualities of all ingredients will be better revealed and the soup will be even tastier. Serve hot, sprinkled with herbs.

Today I made pea soup for lunch just like in kindergarten. I had 0.5 cups of peas. Since it boils well, I didn’t soak it. Putting a pan with meat on the fire (I took a chicken back for the soup), brought the water to a boil, skimmed off the resulting foam and added washed peas to the pan. Cooked for 40 minutes. Then I added fried onions and carrots and potatoes and continued cooking until the potatoes were soft. I salted the soup at the very end and also added bay leaves for flavor. It turned out very tasty! I love thick soups when the peas are boiled until pureed. And so it happened! The soup is aromatic, satisfying, and looks very appetizing. Thank you very much!

I also always cook with smoked meats. And this soup turned out to be so... tender, or something, in comparison with the usual pea soup. Thanks for the delicious soup. She ate with great pleasure.
