Onion soup with cheese and croutons

Chop the onion

Chop garlic
STEP 4
Preheat the oven over medium heat. Fry the onion and garlic in olive oil until golden brown. Add flour to the pan and fry, stirring well, until golden brown.

Pour in wine and broth and bring to a boil.
STEP 6
Add bay leaf and cumin. Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes until the smell of alcohol dissipates. Add salt and pepper to taste.
STEP 7
While the broth is cooking, cut the French bread into slices about 1 cm thick. Dip the bread slices in the remaining olive oil on both sides. Fry the bread in a frying pan until golden brown.
STEP 8
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Pour the broth into heatproof plates, top with croutons and sprinkle with grated cheese. Place plates on a baking sheet and cover with foil. Bake for about 5 minutes in a preheated oven.
