  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients. I used natural red grape juice. But grape-based fruit and berry juice, apple, cherry or any other juice of your choice will do. It is advisable to use homemade juice. If you do buy it in a store, take a 100% natural product without dyes or flavor enhancers.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour grape juice and water into an enamel pan (it is not advisable to use aluminum cookware).

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Rinse store-bought fruits and soak them in warm water for about 3-5 minutes to remove the preservatives used on the fruits. Dry with paper towels. Grate the orange zest on a medium or fine grater and add to the juice.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Now add the grated lemon zest.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Wash a small sweet and sour apple. Cut into small squares. Place in a saucepan.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add washed raisins. In this case, it is not necessary to steam it first. During cooking it will become soft.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

    Add allspice peas.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place a whole cinnamon stick or add about 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Add dry cloves to the contents.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Add ground ginger. Or take fresh ginger root, grate it on a fine grater or cut 2-3 thin slices.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

    Add ground cardamom.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Cook the mulled wine over low heat, bringing it to a boil (about 70-75°C). It is important not to let the drink boil, otherwise it will lose its taste. As soon as the first bubbles appear on the surface, turn off the heat. Cover the pan with a lid and steep the mulled wine for about 5 minutes. Strain the drink through a fine strainer. Pour it into glasses specially designed for mulled wine or just ceramic cups. Help yourself!
