Lazy cabbage rolls with rice, cabbage and minced meat in a pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make lazy cabbage rolls with rice, cabbage and minced meat in a pan? Prepare your food. Any minced meat will do - beef and pork, like mine, minced chicken, turkey. You can take a ready-made one, store-bought, or prepare it yourself.
STEP 2
First of all, prepare the rice. Rinse it well several times, fill it with clean cold water and let it cook. Bring the water to a boil and cook the rice for a couple of minutes. Then place on a sieve and cool.
STEP 3
Cut the cabbage into small cubes. I’ve seen recipes where it’s grated on a coarse grater for lazy cabbage rolls, but I haven’t tried it myself. Instead of white cabbage, you can use Chinese cabbage.
STEP 4
Place the cabbage in a bowl and pour boiling water over it. Leave the cabbage to stand for 10 minutes, then also place in a sieve to drain excess liquid. You can also boil the cabbage for 5 minutes or fry it in a pan with oil.
STEP 5
Cut the onion into small cubes.
STEP 6
Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 7
Fry vegetables in a small amount of vegetable oil until soft, about 5 minutes.
STEP 8
Take a bowl, put minced meat, rice, cabbage, and fried vegetables in it. Salt and pepper the minced meat. You can also add your favorite spices. Beat in the egg.
STEP 9
Stir the minced meat until it becomes viscous; it should stick together well and not fall apart. Otherwise, add another egg or add a little water.
STEP 10
With wet hands, form the minced meat into oblong cabbage rolls and roll them in flour. I got 8 pieces, I cooked half the portion.
STEP 11
Fry the cabbage rolls in vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown. Make the heat under the frying pan high and pour in a lot of oil, as the cabbage rolls will quickly absorb it.
STEP 12
Place the fried cabbage rolls in a saucepan with a thick bottom. You can also use a roasting pan or a frying pan with high sides.
STEP 13
Prepare the sauce. Mix sour cream with tomato paste, dilute this mixture with hot water to the consistency of liquid kefir. Salt the sauce.
STEP 14
Pour the resulting sauce over the cabbage rolls; it should almost completely cover them. If there is not enough sauce, add water immediately to the pan.
STEP 15
Place the pan over medium heat and wait for the sauce to boil. Cover the pan with a lid and turn the heat to low. Simmer the cabbage rolls for 30-40 minutes.
STEP 16
Serve cabbage rolls with sour cream or mayonnaise. Bon appetit!
