  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make hunting salad for the winter? Prepare all the ingredients needed for cooking. Wash and dry all vegetables. I usually don’t wash cabbage, I just remove the top two leaves and throw them away. Cut off the ends of cucumbers and remove the core and seeds from peppers. I always remove the skin of tomatoes so that it doesn’t end up in the finished salad. It is not necessary to do this according to the recipe; you just need to cut off the stalks.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the carrots and cut into thin circles. I use a special grater-shredder for slicing. Pour vegetable oil into a large, thick-bottomed pan and add a layer of sliced carrots.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the next layer of onion cut into half rings.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then - bell pepper, cut into strips (I cut it into half rings).

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

The next layer is cucumber slices, which I also grate on a shredder, but can also be done with a regular knife.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then - a layer of shredded cabbage. You can lightly add salt to the cabbage so that it releases its juice.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

And lay out the tomatoes cut into slices as a final layer. Place the pan with the Hunter’s salad on the fire for the winter, do not mix the layers! Don’t be afraid that the pan is loaded with the top, when the salad warms up and the vegetables give juice, the mass will settle.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

When the contents of the pan are well heated and boiling, add salt, sugar and all seasonings. Mix the Hunter's salad well for the winter. Wait until it boils again and cook for another five minutes over low heat.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

As soon as the salad boils and a lot of juice comes out, the salad is ready.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Place the hot salad into prepared jars.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place a towel at the bottom of a large saucepan, place jars of salad on it, and fill the jars with water up to their shoulders. Then sterilize the jars: 0.5 l - 5 minutes, 0.75-7 minutes, 1 l - 10 minutes. Roll up the finished salad and wrap it in a warm blanket until it cools completely.

Winter vegetable preparation is wonderful. I opened the jar and a delicious salad was on the table. Can be served as a side dish or as an appetizer. I prepared hunter's salad for the winter using this recipe. I just didn’t add cabbage for my own reasons. And in order not to violate the quantity of ingredients, I added more cucumbers instead of cabbage. I peeled and cut all the vegetables randomly. I boiled it in a large basin, added spices according to the list, stirred and brought to a boil. I put the salad in jars and sterilized it as described in the recipe. It turned out to be 3.5 liters of salad, as the author writes, only my jars are not standard. Naturally I left it for testing. The spiced salad is very tasty and harmonious. All vegetables go well together. The only thing I thought was that the carrots were undercooked. Apparently the salad still needs to sit in the jars and marinate. The preparation is simple and quick, in principle. The longest process is preparing the vegetables. Good recipe! Many thanks to the author!

Good day. ...Sometimes salads are similar in content, but different in name. You call it “Hunter’s for the winter”, but here in our district it’s called “Autumn”, it was passed down from generation to generation, I myself have been making it for more than 25 years, yes, and the tomatoes are red. Try it too. Like a cold appetizer
