Hot dog buns
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake hot dog buns at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Remove the egg from the refrigerator in advance; it should be at room temperature. If you don't have time for this, then warm it in warm water.
STEP 2
Heat the milk until warm - a temperature of 37-38 degrees. It should become noticeably warm, but under no circumstances hot! Yeast will be activated in the milk; at a hotter temperature it will die. Add sugar and yeast to the milk and stir. Cover the cup of milk with a napkin and leave for 15 minutes.
STEP 3
During this time, the yeast in the warm sweet milk should wake up - bubble and rise with a “cap”. This means they are fresh and active. If this does not happen, then take other yeast; with this, the baked goods will not rise.
STEP 4
Take a large bowl. Sift flour into it. Sifting saturates the flour with air, which makes baked goods fluffier and softer.
STEP 5
Add salt to flour, stir. Make a well in the middle of the flour and pour in the yeast. Lightly beat the egg with a fork and pour in next. Wash the egg in water and soda before use, as there may be harmful bacteria on its surface.
STEP 6
Start kneading the dough first with a spoon, then, when it becomes difficult to stir, start kneading with your hands or a mixer. The dough is very sticky, but don't add any more flour. The softer the dough, the fluffier the buns will be. Since flour from different manufacturers has different properties, you may need less or more of it. But I don’t recommend adding too much flour; you can overcrowd the dough and the buns won’t be fluffy.
STEP 7
When all the flour is mixed, add vegetable oil. It will become easier to knead, but the dough will still be sticky.
STEP 8
Knead the dough for a long time, about 10 minutes. It should become smooth. Gather the dough into a ball. Cover the bowl with a towel, film or lid and put it in a warm place. Leave it to rise for about 30-60 minutes.
STEP 9
After the allotted time, the dough will double in size.
STEP 10
Place it on a floured work surface and divide into 8 parts. Round each part - pinch the edges towards the middle, like a knot, then turn it over with the seam down and roll it in a circular motion, forming a ball.
STEP 11
Form buns. To do this, take a blank. Use your fingers to flatten it into an oval shape.
STEP 12
Pinch one edge about 1 cm.
STEP 13
Pinch the same edge again.
STEP 14
Turn the workpiece over and pinch the other edge in the same way. First one time.
STEP 15
Then the second one.
STEP 16
And only now connect the edges of the workpiece, pinching them in the middle. You will get this long tube.
STEP 17
You can roll it a little to even it out. Form all the buns in the same way.
STEP 18
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the buns on it, leaving space between them.
STEP 19
Cover the baking sheet with a towel and leave the buns to rise for another 30 minutes. They will grow up a little.
STEP 20
Bake the buns in the oven preheated to 200°C, top-bottom mode, 15 minutes until golden brown. The times are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven. Cool the finished buns completely on a wire rack and use as intended.
