Gooseberry jam with orange through a meat grinder
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make this jam? There are several recipes for gooseberry and orange jam. You can make it quickly, without cooking, with cooking, from green or red gooseberries, with the addition of other fruits. In any case, you will get tasty and healthy jam. Let's prepare the ingredients for the jam.
STEP 2
Gooseberries can be used in any variety and color according to your desire and taste. We wash the berries well under running water, place the gooseberries in a colander, and let the water drain completely. We remove the berries that are spoiled and covered with a gray coating; the tails of the gooseberries need to be cut off on both sides. Jam can also be made from frozen gooseberries by preparing them before freezing. Then all that remains is to defrost it.
STEP 3
Oranges not only give jam a rich taste, but also make this delicacy more healthy and rich in vitamins. To make the taste of citrus fruits in jam brighter, it is better to use them together with the peel to prepare this delicacy. However, oranges have a specific bitterness that is easy to get rid of. It is enough to wash them with a brush and soap under running water, blanch them in boiling water for 15 minutes, or fill them with cold water and leave for 12 hours.
STEP 4
Then cut the oranges together with the peel into large pieces, remove the seeds. Pass the oranges along with the gooseberries through a meat grinder. You can use a blender. Depending on taste preferences, the ingredients for the jam can be turned into a puree with a jelly texture or made thick with pieces of berries and fruits. Transfer the berry and fruit mass to a saucepan or deep enamel bowl. Add the measured amount of sugar. Mix.
STEP 5
Turn on the heat, bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly, and cook for about 20 minutes. We put the jam into pre-prepared jars, washed and sterilized, and roll them up with sterile lids. Wrap the jars in a warm blanket and let them cool completely at room temperature.
STEP 6
We store the jam in a cool place or serve it to the table. Thanks to the citrus fruits that appear and the additional preservative, the jam is stored for a long time. Bon appetit!
