French fries in a slow cooker

Very simple, even a child can do it, appetizing and tasty! French fries in a slow cooker will help out when you don’t have access to a stove, for example, at the cottage or in a hostel. Even without a deep fryer, you can enjoy golden brown fried potatoes.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make French fries in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. Take large potatoes, 4 pieces are enough for 2 servings. I don’t recommend frying a larger amount at a time; it’s better to do several batches. Choose refined sunflower oil for frying.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water, removing any heavy dirt with a brush. Clean it and dry it with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Cut the peeled tubers into long strips. Try to make equal pieces so that they cook evenly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the chopped potatoes on a paper towel and blot it to remove any excess starch—dry potatoes will become more golden brown when fried.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl. Calculate its amount depending on the size of the bowl and the volume of potatoes - they should float freely in the oil. Select the mode suitable for frying on the multicooker - it can be “Frying”, “Frying” or, like mine, “Baking”. Look at your model. If you can choose the temperature, then set it to 140-160 degrees. Heat the oil.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

There is a simple way to check whether the oil is hot enough. Dip a piece of potato into it. If bubbles gather around it, then you can begin the frying process. Carefully lower the potatoes into the oil.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Leave the potatoes to fry with the lid open. Frying time will depend on the power of your multicooker. In some models, 15-20 minutes is enough, mine took all of 30. Also keep in mind that the potatoes will not be as brown as those from the deep fryer - they will only turn slightly golden. At the end of frying, salt the potatoes to taste.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Remove the potatoes using a plastic slotted spoon. You can place it on a paper towel to remove excess fat. Serve the finished potatoes immediately. Bon appetit!

The child really wanted French fries. This is certainly not very useful, but homemade is better than store-bought. I found this recipe on my favorite website and decided to cook French fries in a slow cooker. The products are completely simple and affordable. Having a slow cooker made cooking absolutely effortless. I prepared one serving because I know that French fries need to be eaten fresh. I peeled the potatoes, cut them into strips and dipped them in paper towels as recommended by the author. Cooked in large quantities of refined oil in frying mode until golden brown. The preparation took about 15 minutes. I put the hot fries on napkins to remove excess oil. At the end I added a little salt. It turned out great and quite quickly. The French fries in the slow cooker came out soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I served the child a dish with tomato sauce. My son was delighted with the homemade fries and asked to make more) Great recipe. Many thanks to the author 😊

I agree with the author: a multicooker is such a helper! I also learned how to make French fries in a slow cooker. A recipe book was included with it) However, huge respect for the recipe))) The book can get lost, but some people don’t have it at all) And here I’ll definitely add it to my favorites! Thanks for the recipe!!!

Thanks for the recipe! My child appreciated it. Although I want to warn those who are thinking about getting the kind of fries that are fried in a deep fryer. In the slow cooker, at least in mine, the potatoes turned out to be more tender, without that crispy crust. It's more like just fried potatoes. Or even stewed. Tasty, yes, but not the kind of fries you might want. Know that it’s not the recipe’s fault, but the multicooker’s properties are the same (that’s why they actually love it!))
