Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make cucumber and onion salad for the winter? Prepare all the necessary products that are indicated in the recipe. Any cucumbers will do, even those with flaws. Adjust the amount of dill to your taste. The bunch can be smaller or, on the contrary, large if you like the pronounced taste of dill. Wash and dry the cucumbers and herbs.
STEP 2
If the cucumbers have a rough peel or it is badly damaged, then it is better to cut it off. Cut the cucumbers into circles, half circles or quarters, as you prefer.
STEP 3
Place the cucumbers in a saucepan of suitable size. Peel the onion, rinse and dry with paper towels. Slice the onions into thin half rings or quarter rings. Send to cucumbers.
STEP 4
Chop the dill into small pieces. Add to cucumbers and onions.
STEP 5
Add sugar, salt, vinegar and refined vegetable oil to the pan.
STEP 6
Mix everything thoroughly and leave to brew for two to three hours.
STEP 7
When the cucumbers have steeped and a sufficient amount of juice has formed, place the pan on the stove. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the flame to moderate and cook the cucumbers for about 5-7 minutes. Don't forget to stir the salad. Do this carefully so that the cucumbers retain their shape. When the salad changes color, you can proceed to the next step.
STEP 8
Sterilize jars and lids using any method available to you. This can be done in the oven, in a water bath or in the microwave. Place the hot salad into sterile jars and immediately close the lids. Turn the jars upside down, wrap them in a warm blanket and leave them this way until the jars have cooled.
STEP 9
