Classic Caesar salad with salmon
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make a classic Caesar salad with salmon? Prepare your ingredients. You will need red lightly salted fish. You can buy ready-made or pickle it yourself. I took quail eggs, you can use regular eggs, just cut them smaller. Small cherry tomatoes are better suited. You can use any leaf salad.
STEP 2
First, prepare the salad croutons. How to make croutons? Cut the bread into small cubes. Take better white bread. Fry them in a frying pan over low heat, adding chopped garlic and salt, until lightly crispy. You can add a little oil when frying, but I like croutons without oil.
STEP 3
Place well-washed and dried lettuce leaves in a salad bowl. It is better not to cut the salad, but to tear it with your hands. When it comes into contact with metal, lettuce oxidizes faster and loses its shape. I took a salad mix, iceberg goes well, and the most proper Caesar is prepared with romaine lettuce.
STEP 4
Remove the red fish (I have it prepared) from the package and cut into medium pieces. Add fish to a plate with salad.
STEP 5
Boil the quail eggs. To do this, put them in cold water, bring to a boil and then cook for 5 minutes. Then fill them with cold water, cool and clean. Cut each egg into two parts and add to the salad.
STEP 6
Wash the cherry tomatoes, dry and cut into quarters. Place them on a plate with salad.
STEP 7
Add fried pieces of bread to the salad.
STEP 8
Sprinkle the entire salad with grated Parmesan cheese and add Caesar dressing just before serving.
STEP 9
Prepare ingredients for making Caesar dressing. Take mild mustard, I use French mustard. Olive oil or any vegetable oil. Instead of the scarce Worcestershire sauce, I use balsamic vinegar.
STEP 10
How to make sauce? Place the egg in boiling water for a minute, then remove it, break the shell and pour its contents into the blender container. Add chopped garlic, mustard, vinegar or Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, then blend everything until smooth with an immersion blender. Pour in the oil in a thin stream. Whisk the Caesar salad dressing for another minute. The consistency should be like sour cream.
STEP 11
You can buy the sauce ready-made, you can make it authentic using all the necessary ingredients without replacing them, or you can make a lighter version using, for example, natural yogurt. All options are suitable, choose according to your taste and capabilities. Pour the resulting sauce over the Caesar and serve immediately so that the croutons do not soften. Bon appetit!
