Chocolate coffee cake with whiskey

STEP 1
Ingredients.
STEP 2
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine warm coffee, whiskey, and 12 tablespoons butter, stirring until butter melts.
STEP 3
Add sugar with the remaining cocoa, stir until completely dissolved. Remove from heat and cool completely.
STEP 4
In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients - flour, baking powder, salt, ginger and cloves. In another bowl, beat eggs and vanilla.
STEP 5
Stir in the egg mixture and chocolate mixture.
STEP 6
Add the liquid ingredients to the flour mixture and mix well.
STEP 7
Grind the walnuts and mix with the dough.
STEP 8
Place the dough in the prepared pan and bake the chocolate cake for 45 to 65 minutes at 200 degrees.
STEP 9
Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
STEP 10
Or make glaze by whisking egg white and 6 tbsp. spoons of powdered sugar.
STEP 11
Cover cooled cakes with frosting.
STEP 12
The top can be decorated with colored Easter cake sprinkles or chopped candied fruits and marmalade.
STEP 13
Now all you have to do is wait for the glaze to harden and serve with tea.
