Chicken legs in the oven with a crispy caramel crust

STEP 1
How to bake chicken legs in the oven with a crispy caramel crust? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
STEP 2
Wash the legs in running water and dry with paper towels.
STEP 3
Pierce the inside of the legs with a skewer in several places. This will ensure better penetration of the syrup, which we will cook further, into the meat.
STEP 4
Pour sugar and salt into a thick-bottomed saucepan. Melt over high heat. There is no need to stir at first. Just wait until all the crystals darken and the sugar starts to brown and melt at the edges.
STEP 5
When the sugar begins to melt, stir it quickly until completely dissolved. It is convenient to use a silicone spatula for this.
STEP 6
The mixture should turn caramel brown. Once the sugar has caramelized, add water. Stir and keep on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Remove the sweet and salty syrup from the heat. Let the syrup cool.
STEP 7
Transfer the legs to a deep bowl. Pour caramel syrup on top. Mix well. Leave to marinate for 15 minutes.
STEP 8
Place the legs on a baking tray lined with baking paper or in a baking dish. Brush the top with the remaining caramel syrup. If the syrup is too liquid, then after marinating it can be strained and boiled until slightly thickened. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 40 minutes. STEP 9
Serve delicious chicken legs with a delicious golden crust. Bon appetit!
