STEP 1

How to make galette cookies at home? Prepare your food. Flour may be used either less or more than the specified amount, it depends on its properties and other ingredients. You can change the salt and sugar to your taste - for salted galettes, increase the salt and reduce the sugar. Take refined, odorless oil.
STEP 2

Take a bowl, beat an egg into it. Be sure to wash your eggs before using them, as even seemingly clean shells can harbor harmful bacteria. It is best to use food grade detergents and a brush. Add sugar, salt and vanillin (or vanilla sugar). If you are preparing a salty version, then omit the vanillin. Pour in milk and vegetable oil.
STEP 3

Mix everything with a whisk. I took a regular hand mixer, you can use a mixer. Although for these cookies the fluffiness of the mixed products is not so important.
STEP 4

Sift most of the flour, all the starch and baking powder into the liquid ingredients. Read about important nuances when adding baking powder in the article, link at the end of the recipe. Start kneading the dough first with a fork, then with your hands. And already during the kneading process you will understand whether you need to add more flour. STEP 5

The result should be a homogeneous, non-sticky dough. Gather it into a ball.
STEP 6

Divide it into two parts - it will be easier to work with. Roll out each piece on a floured surface into a thin square. You can make the thickness of the layer different, depending on what kind of cookies you want in the end - thin or thicker.
STEP 7

Cut the layer into squares or rectangles. I cut with a curly knife, but a regular one will do. You can also cut cookies into cookie cutters. Gather the dough scraps back into a ball.
STEP 8

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Prick each cookie randomly with a fork.
STEP 9

Bake the biscuits in the oven, preheated to 180°C, for 10-15 minutes. The exact time will depend on the features of your oven; read the article for more details. You will find the link at the end of the recipe. Mine takes longer to bake, I kept the cookies for all 15 minutes until golden brown. Remove the finished cookies from the oven and cool by removing them from the baking sheet.

Serve the biscuits with milk or tea. Bon appetit!
