How to make basil compote with citric acid for the winter? Very simple! Prepare all the ingredients you will need. Red basil is ideal for compote; it has a rich color, aroma and taste. The amount of basil in the recipe is indicated arbitrarily; you can use more or less according to your taste. First of all, sterilize the jars and lids in any way convenient for you. Read more about this at the link at the end of the recipe.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Separate a bunch of red basil into small sprigs. Rinse the basil thoroughly, literally every leaf, to remove any remaining dirt, dust or soil. Remove spoiled and dry leaves. Next, dry the branches slightly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the basil in a three-liter jar.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

    Add sugar and citric acid.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Fill the jar with boiling water. Pour in a little at a time.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

First, fill a quarter of the jar with water, and after 5-10 seconds, pour in another small amount of boiling water.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add boiling water up to the shoulders of a three-liter jar.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Close the jar with a sterile lid using a special key. Next, turn the jar upside down and wrap it in a warm blanket. Leave until completely cool, and then put in a cool, dark place for long-term storage.

The compote turns out very bright, with a beautiful rich color.

Basil compote for the winter is very unusual for me! Basil is something that is usually added to salads, sauces, stews, and winter preparations, but sweet compote is downright exotic! This is probably why I decided to cook it. Discover a new facet of basil, so to speak. Since this was a trial version, I took a small jar. I collected the basil that was still left in the garden and went to cook. The color of the compote is not very saturated. The leaves floating in the jar are intriguing, but I’ll try it later. Thanks for the recipe, which is unusual for me!
