Banosh

Prepare a delicious, satisfying, nutritious banosh! Banosh or banush is a dish of Ukrainian Hutsul cuisine, without which not a single national feast is complete. In his homeland, a festival is even held in his honor, and the name comes from the surname Banosh. The ingredients of the dish were available in every home, since sheep and cows contained almost everything, so there was sour cream and sheep cheese. Traditional banosh has several types: with cracklings, sheep cheese or porcini mushrooms, but the base is the same - corn grits and sour cream. It is sour cream that gives the characteristic sourness; in this dish it cannot be replaced with cream. If the sour cream is very thick, you can dilute it with water or milk. Easy to prepare!

It turns out that you can cook so many interesting dishes from corn grits! I’ve already found a lot on Khrumka, it’s great! Otherwise we only practiced porridge with milk. I also know that they make mamaliga mixed with cheese, it also turns out very tasty, especially with the sauce. In Georgia they serve it this way, with satsebeli sauce, relish!
