  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make bagels with kefir and yeast with jam? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Heat the kefir slightly (to about 35 degrees), pour into a large bowl. Add sugar, salt, yeast. Cover the cup with a towel and place in a warm place for 20 minutes. There is no need to overheat kefir, as high temperatures will kill the yeast. After a while, a foamy cap will appear on the surface, which means the yeast is active, otherwise you need to use other yeast. You will learn all the intricacies of working with yeast by reading the article at the end of this recipe.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Melt the butter in a water bath or in the microwave and cool. Pour it into the kefir mixture, beat in the egg. Mix everything. Sift the flour and add two thirds at once, mix all the ingredients well. Add the remaining flour in small portions. Knead the dough with your hands until it stops sticking. You may need less or more flour, check the consistency. About flour, read the article at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cover the dough in the bowl with a towel and place it in a warm place again for 1-1.5 hours. The dough should double in volume.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Punch down the risen dough, place it on a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a layer half a centimeter thick. Cut it into triangles.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place a little jam on the wide side of each triangle. Roll the bagels and place them on a baking sheet, which you have previously greased with vegetable oil.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Mix the milk and yolk and brush each bagel with this mixture. Leave them to stand at room temperature for 20 minutes. During this time they will increase slightly in size.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Bake the bagels in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 20 minutes (until golden brown). Time and temperature are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven. Read more about ovens in the article at the end of the recipe.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Remove the finished bagels from the oven, let them cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve simple and delicious kefir bagels with jam in hot aromatic tea or coffee. Sweet tea party!

I baked delicious bagels with kefir and yeast with jam. I used cherry jam, it sounded wonderful in the finished baked goods. I kneaded the dough according to the recipe, it turned out soft, pliable, and it was pleasant to work with. I cut out triangular pieces from the dough with a knife, put a little jam on the thick part and rolled it into a bagel. I don’t recommend putting a lot of jam, as there is a high probability that it will leak out during baking. I didn’t smear anything on top of the bagels. Bake until lightly browned. They turned out beautiful, soft and very tasty. After cooling, they disappeared very quickly (cooked in two batches). Everyone at home, especially the children, really liked it, I’ll take note of the recipe!
