Apple crumble with apples
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make crumble? Prepare your food. Choose firm, not sweet varieties of apples. They hold their shape better and taste better in this type of baking. If your apples are sweet, then I advise you to reduce the amount of sugar, otherwise it will be cloying. Brown sugar goes into the filling, white sugar goes into the dough. Instead of walnuts, you can take any other nuts or eliminate them altogether.
STEP 2
First of all, cut the butter into cubes and put it in the freezer. It should be very well chilled.
STEP 3
Chop the nuts into medium-sized pieces.
STEP 4
Place them in a dry frying pan and fry for 5 minutes over medium heat. This will enhance the flavor of the nuts. They will become crispier and more flavorful. This is not a necessary step, but after trying it once, you will see how much tastier the roasted nut is.
STEP 5
Wash and peel the apples. Cut them in half and cut out the middle. Cut the apples into small pieces.
STEP 6
Place brown sugar and cinnamon in a dry frying pan. Place the prepared apples.
STEP 7
Place the frying pan over low heat and stir the apples until the sugar melts. Gently mix the apple slices with the resulting caramel. As soon as the juice is released from the apples and, mixed with caramel, covers each piece, turn off the heat - the filling is ready.
STEP 8
All that remains is to prepare the dough - shortbread crumbs. Place flour and sugar in a bowl. Remove the butter from the freezer and place it in the flour.
STEP 9
Using a fork, rub the butter into the flour until it forms fine crumbs. The goal is to quickly knead the butter so that each piece is coated in flour and sugar. Then, when baking, the oil will make the flour crispy. If it melts, then this effect will not work. Therefore, you need to work quickly and not with your hands; the heat of your hands will cause the butter to melt.
STEP 10
To prepare crumble, you can use either one large form or several portioned ones. Place caramelized apples in the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle them with nuts on top. I prefer a lot of apples, so I put them two-thirds full.
STEP 11
Sprinkle sand crumbs on top. Place the crumble pans on a baking sheet. I advise you to cover it with parchment - if a lot of apple juice comes out during baking, then it will run away and not stain the baking sheet.
STEP 12
Bake the crumble in the oven at 180°C for 25 minutes. Remove the finished dessert and cool slightly. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
