STEP 1

How to bake an American pie? Prepare the products according to the list. If you wish, you can replace some of the water with egg yolk, then the dough will be even softer! The butter should be at room temperature; remove it from the refrigerator in advance.
STEP 2

I kneaded the dough in a food processor, but it is very easy to do by hand. Sift the wheat flour into the bowl of a food processor, add powdered sugar and diced butter.
STEP 3

Grind the flour, butter and powdered sugar into fine crumbs. If you knead by hand, then either chop the mixture with a knife or rub the butter and flour with your hands, but then act very quickly so that the butter does not begin to melt from the warmth of your hands. Add vanilla tincture and part of the water to the butter crumbs.
STEP 4

Knead the dough. Add water in small portions until the dough begins to come together. Do not add all the water at once, you may need more or less water!.
STEP 5

Roll the finished dough into a ball, slightly flatten it, wrap it in film and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes. If you have enough time, it is better, of course, to leave the dough in the refrigerator for an hour. Turn on the oven at 180 degrees.
STEP 6

While the dough is resting, make the filling. Wash the apples, remove the peel and core. Cut the apples into slices.
STEP 7

Mix apples with cinnamon, sugar and lemon juice. If desired, you can add a little lemon zest. If the apples are very juicy, then add 1 tbsp. l. starch.
STEP 8

Divide the dough into two unequal parts.
STEP 9

Roll out most of the dough to the size of your pan, taking into account the sides. Place in a greased pan and make sides. Place apple filling on top. Level it out. Read about how to choose a baking dish in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe.
STEP 10

Roll out the second part of the dough thinly, cut into even strips and cover the pie with them in the form of a grid. Pinch the edges with your fingers to the sides of the pie. Before baking, if desired, brush the cake with a brush dipped in milk. This will give it a brighter crust.
STEP 11
