White wine mulled wine
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make mulled wine with white wine? Prepare all the necessary products. Take quality wine, anything from dry to semi-sweet will do. Lemon and orange should be fresh, you can also take some other fruits, apples and pears are perfect. I don’t take ground spices, just whole dried ones - they are much more aromatic. In principle, you can also take ground spices, but then the finished drink will need to be strained through a fine sieve.
STEP 2
Pour wine into a saucepan for preparing mulled wine and add spices: whole or ground. Spices can also be completely different, if you are a fan of more spicy drinks, you can replace or supplement those suggested by me: vanilla or vanilla sugar, ginger (ground or root), nutmeg, cloves (can also be bud or ground) are perfect for mulled wine. Focus on your taste!
STEP 3
Add sugar to your taste. Don't overdo it with sugar! Pay attention to what kind of wine you have. If the wine is semi-sweet, you will need less sugar or none at all. If it’s dry, then you can add more sweets. Although, to my taste, even dry wine can be done without sugar.
STEP 4
Wash the lemon and orange well. It is best even with a brush, because... they will be used together with the peel. I also recommend washing the fruit with very hot water, then the citrus fruits will release more juice into the drink. Cut the lemon into semicircles.
STEP 5
Also cut the orange into half circles.
STEP 6
Add the chopped fruit to the saucepan with the wine. Send the mixture over low heat to gradually warm up.
STEP 7
As soon as the first bubbles appear, remove the mulled wine from the heat. Cover the pan with a lid and let the mulled wine brew and cool slightly for 10 minutes. Then strain the finished drink. You can use a colander or, if you had ground spices, strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.
STEP 8
Mulled wine is, of course, a winter drink that perfectly warms you up in cold weather, especially outdoors. But it is very tasty both hot and cold. Bon appetit!
