Rice balls

Ruddy and delicious - pamper your family with an amazing breakfast! Rice balls are a great way to use up leftover rice milk cereal and feed the kids. The meatballs look like cheesecakes; you can serve them with sour cream and jam. If you remove sugar from the ingredients, you get a salty version of the dish.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make rice balls in a frying pan? Prepare your food. You can cook rice porridge especially for meatballs or use ready-made rice left over from breakfast. For porridge recipes, see after the recipe. The only note is that the porridge should be thick and viscous, not liquid, so that it can be sculpted. I just have ready-made milk porridge.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place the rice porridge in a bowl, beat the egg into it. Add flour. Add sugar or salt to taste. Since I’m preparing sweet meatballs and my porridge is already cooked with sugar, I don’t add anything. For the salty version, add salt accordingly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Stir the mass. Try to see if you can make a lump out of it. If this is difficult to do, then add more flour. But do not overdo it so that the meatballs do not acquire a floury taste.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour any breading onto a flat plate - flour, semolina or breadcrumbs. Scoop the dough with a spoon and form a lump. Roll it in flour on both sides, and then carefully form a cue ball on the board - round on the sides and flatten on top. Make balls from the whole dough in this way.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Heat vegetable oil for frying in a frying pan over medium heat. Read about how to choose the ideal frying pan, as well as how to choose the right vegetable oil in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe. Place the breaded meatballs into the heated oil.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Fry them until golden brown over medium heat, then turn them over to the other side. Fry them until golden brown on the other side as well.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Remove the finished meatballs to a plate lined with a paper towel - it will absorb excess fat.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Serve rice porridge balls with sour cream, sweet sauce, jam or condensed milk. Bon appetit!

I made rice balls from the leftover porridge from breakfast. I made them for tea, but did not add sugar, the porridge was already slightly sweetened. But when forming the balls, I “hid” raisins steamed in hot water inside. When frying, the meatballs hold their shape well. The too thick morning porridge sparkled with new colors by the evening tea drinking and was eaten with great pleasure in the form of meatballs))). Thanks for the recipe, katushafin!

My family doesn't like regular rice. Therefore, we have to look for workarounds. Rice balls were a real discovery for me. Now I cook them quite often - with sugar for breakfast or afternoon snack, without sugar as a side dish. It turns out amazingly delicious! Thanks to the author!
