STEP 1
To prepare the dish, we need a rabbit weighing about 1-1.5 kg, 2-3 heads of onions to your taste, garlic, beer (I like it better with light, but rely on your taste), flour, fresh basil (if If you don’t find it, you can use dried or replace it with oregano), if you wish, you can add a mixture of your favorite spices, I just used salt, pepper and paprika.
STEP 2
Disassemble the rabbit into portions, wash and dry thoroughly.
STEP 3
Fry the rabbit pieces in vegetable (or butter) oil over high heat until golden brown. Do not try to fit all the meat into the frying pan at once, fry in several stages so that the meat does not start to stew. Place the fried meat on a plate.
STEP 4
Cut the onion into half rings.
STEP 5
Garlic - in slices.
STEP 6
Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the onion for a few minutes, add the garlic and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
STEP 7
Add flour to the fried onions and mix thoroughly.
STEP 8
Then there are two options: you can simmer the dish on fire or in the oven, I choose the oven. Therefore, I put the rabbit in a deep baking dish.
STEP 9
I put onions and garlic on top, salt them thoroughly, add spices, basil, pour in beer and add water to the level of the meat so that it is practically covered. I cover the dish with a lid (or foil) and put it in the oven, simmer at a low simmer until the meat is soft (most often this takes 1.5-2 hours).
