Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 3 hr
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare the dish, we need a rabbit weighing about 1-1.5 kg, 2-3 heads of onions to your taste, garlic, beer (I like it better with light, but rely on your taste), flour, fresh basil (if If you don’t find it, you can use dried or replace it with oregano), if you wish, you can add a mixture of your favorite spices, I just used salt, pepper and paprika.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Disassemble the rabbit into portions, wash and dry thoroughly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Fry the rabbit pieces in vegetable (or butter) oil over high heat until golden brown. Do not try to fit all the meat into the frying pan at once, fry in several stages so that the meat does not start to stew. Place the fried meat on a plate.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cut the onion into half rings.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

    Garlic - in slices.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the onion for a few minutes, add the garlic and fry for another 2-3 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add flour to the fried onions and mix thoroughly.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Then there are two options: you can simmer the dish on fire or in the oven, I choose the oven. Therefore, I put the rabbit in a deep baking dish.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

I put onions and garlic on top, salt them thoroughly, add spices, basil, pour in beer and add water to the level of the meat so that it is practically covered. I cover the dish with a lid (or foil) and put it in the oven, simmer at a low simmer until the meat is soft (most often this takes 1.5-2 hours).

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

    Bon appetit!

I wanted to cook rabbit meat, we love it very much. I had front and hind legs, cut them into several pieces and soaked them in cold water for three hours. This helps get rid of a specific odor. Meanwhile, I started looking at recipes on the website. I settled on rabbit stewed in beer, which is how I cooked it. Before frying, I dried the pieces of meat with a towel to reduce splashes from contact with hot oil. I placed the fried rabbit in a glass dish and fried onions and carrots on top. I salted it, added paprika, a mixture of peppers, dried dill and poured beer over it all. My beer was dark filtered. The dish was baked covered for 1.5 hours. During this time, the meat became soft and very juicy! The aroma of beer is present, but not strong. The dark beer gave a slightly noticeable bitterness. But the taste of the meat did not suffer from this; it turned out very tasty!

God, how yummy...My dad and mom are constantly on a diet. And as everyone knows, rabbit meat is dietary meat. Once I ordered a pet rabbit from my friends, or rather its carcass... When I came to visit my parents, I cooked it in beer. so my parents ate it on both cheeks, and of course I joined in... The recipe is a little different from this one, but in terms of taste I think this one won’t let you down either...

Amazing recipe!!! Thanks a lot. I cooked in a slow cooker. Simmered for 50 minutes. The result was very tender, flavorful meat.
