    Peel the onion and cut into quarters of rings. To avoid irritating the mucous membranes of your eyes when cutting onions, rinse the onion and knife with cold water. The cutting board will not absorb the unpleasant onion smell if you rub it with a slice of lemon before cutting.

    Fry the chopped onion in a tablespoon of odorless vegetable oil until golden brown.

    Cut the potatoes into medium-sized cubes.

    Take a suitable baking dish. I have a ceramic one measuring 23*14*6 cm. Pour the remaining vegetable oil into it, grease the bottom and sides of the mold with it. Place the potatoes, salt and pepper them. Stir. You can also use your favorite spices.

    Place fried onions on top of the potatoes. And on it - cubes of ham.

    Cover the pan with foil and fold the edges. Place the dish in the oven, preheated to 180°C. Bake it for 40-50 minutes, depending on the features of your oven and the amount of food.

    While the potatoes and ham are baking, grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Any cheese is suitable for this dish - hard, semi-hard, soft, such as mozzarella. The main thing is that it is tasty, of high quality, without milk fat substitutes and melts well.

    After time has passed, remove the pan with potatoes from the oven, but do not turn off the heat. Remove the foil and sprinkle the top with cheese. You can use it in larger quantities, it’s a matter of taste.

    Return the pan to the oven for another 5-10 minutes until the cheese has melted. Remove the finished dish from the oven.

I needed to cook something hearty for dinner, so I chose baked potatoes with ham and cheese in the oven. It's simple and fast enough. I baked it in a glass pan with a lid, so I didn’t use foil. I cut the potatoes into cubes and mixed them with spices, and at the same time added vegetable oil. Instead of ham I took boiled sausage. Fry the onion until golden brown and smell delicious. My cheese turned out to be not very meltable, but it had a creamy taste. I baked it all for exactly an hour at 200 degrees. I really liked the combination of products! The potatoes are soft and tender, combined with cheese it’s very tasty!
