    STEP 1

How to make potatoes under a fur coat in the oven? Prepare the necessary products. I used ham; any boiled sausage or bacon would also work. The fat content of sour cream can be any.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the pre-peeled onions and cut into small cubes.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the garlic and chop it in a convenient way. You can pass the garlic through a press or grate it on a fine grater, or finely chop it.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cut the pre-peeled potatoes into slices.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

In a suitable sized bowl, combine chopped potatoes, onions, chopped garlic, ground black pepper, and herbes de Provence. Salt, add vegetable oil. Mix everything well. You can use any spices and seasonings to taste.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

For the “fur coat,” cut the ham into small pieces of arbitrary shape. For example, thin bars or cubes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Combine ham, cheese and sour cream. Mix well.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the potatoes in a baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C until almost done, about 30 minutes. Cooking time may vary, as it depends on the operating characteristics of the oven.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Check the potatoes for doneness by piercing a circle with a fork. If the potatoes are almost soft, remove the pan from the oven. If the potatoes dry out during cooking, cover the pan with a layer of foil.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place the prepared “fur coat” on the potatoes in an even layer.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the pan back in the oven and cook the dish for about 15 minutes more. The “fur coat” should set and brown around the edges.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Serve the potatoes hot. Bon appetit!

I cook potatoes with ham and cheese according to a similar recipe. And sour cream can be mixed with mayonnaise.

For dinner I baked potatoes under a fur coat in the oven. I liked this recipe primarily for its simplicity and speed of preparation. There is no meat here, but ham/sausage is a great substitute. I also liked the double baking. Perhaps that’s why my first casserole turned out not watery). But at the same time it is juicy, with a distinct creamy flavor! I cut the potatoes with a curly knife for beauty and mixed them with onion, paprika and potato seasoning. Bake for 40 minutes at 180 degrees until the potatoes are well soft. It all depends on the variety. I added more sour cream to the “fur coat” so that there was enough for the entire pan. The ham was replaced with high-quality boiled sausage. During the second baking, the sour cream and cheese seeped into all layers of the potatoes and the result was a delicious creamy cheese sauce! Now I will use this recipe and recommend it to everyone!
