    STEP 1

How to pickle sweet tomatoes and onions in liter jars for the winter? Prepare the ingredients according to the list. You can pickle tomatoes of any degree of ripeness (red, brown or green), the main thing is that the vegetables are whole and not spoiled. For a liter jar you need to take fruits of small size and with thick skin.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly, make a hole in each fruit where the stem attaches with a toothpick so that the skin on them does not burst when pouring boiling water. Peel the onions and cut into half rings. Peel the garlic and cut into large pieces.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wash and dry the greens for pickling thoroughly.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

You need to sterilize the jars for preparation in advance. Wash the jars with soda solution and sterilize in any convenient way. Read more about this, as well as other interesting information about preservation, in the articles linked at the end of the recipe.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the greens at the bottom of the jar, add a few pieces of garlic and onions. Place tomatoes on top; vegetables should be packed tightly. Fill the jars with tomatoes up to the shoulders. Boil water in a kettle or other container. Pour boiling water into the jar of tomatoes. You need to pour hot water in a thin stream and try to get it into the center so that the glass does not burst from the boiling water. Cover the tomato jars with clean lids and leave for 10-15 minutes.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then drain the water from the jars into an enamel pan. Add sugar, salt, bay leaf and bring the water to a boil, stirring with a spoon until the powder is completely dissolved. When the marinade boils, pour in the table vinegar, let it boil again and turn off the heat.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Pour the boiling marinade over the tomatoes in the jars. Roll up the jars with lids, turn them upside down and leave at room temperature overnight until completely cooled. Store the workpieces in a cool place. Bon appetit!

Thanks for the good recipe. I marinated tomatoes with garlic, but I haven’t tried them with onions. I'll see what I like best.

I liked the recipe for pickled tomatoes in liter jars for the winter, I rolled up three jars. I have homemade tomatoes with thin skins. They should not be kept in boiling water for a long time; 15 minutes is enough. I put them in jars more tightly, but then they will still decrease in volume. And at the bottom of the jars I put onion rings, garlic, parsley, cherry and horseradish leaves. To flavor the tomatoes I used allspice and cloves. In order to determine the exact amount of water, I poured the future brine into a measuring jug. This way, in my opinion, it is more convenient to calculate the amount of salt and sugar. Judging by the amount of sugar, the tomatoes will clearly turn out sweetish. A very convenient and quick way to prepare tomatoes for the winter!
