Mulgi porridge made from barley and potatoes in water

An interesting and tasty recipe for unsweetened porridge of Estonian origin! This interesting “mulgi” porridge made from cereals and potatoes is a culinary recipe from Estonian cuisine. If you haven’t tried this yet, be sure to try it, you will definitely like it. The only adjustment I made to this recipe was replacing the fat with vegetable oil. But this is because I don’t have a very good attitude towards fat in general; I prefer to replace it with vegetable oil wherever possible. Yes, barley groats can be replaced here with barley flour, there is no difference.

I wonder how porridge and potatoes are combined not in soup? I'll try to cook it and document it. I'll post photos tomorrow.

I often cook this porridge for children, although instead of barley I use corn or millet. I also add fried onions, carrots and tomatoes. It turns out very tasty and satisfying.
