  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook millet porridge with pumpkin in a saucepan on the stove? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. To prepare porridge, you can use pumpkin, either fresh or frozen. Choose millet that is yellow and pure, without impurities. Milk can be of any fat content. The amount of sugar can be slightly adjusted in one direction or another to suit your taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Place the millet in a dry frying pan and place on the fire. Heat over medium heat for 4-5 minutes. This must be done to remove bitterness from the cereal.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Separately, pour water into a saucepan, put on fire and bring to a boil. As soon as the water boils, add the prepared millet to it. Stir. Cook over low heat until the millet absorbs all the water. This usually takes 7-10 minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Peel fresh pumpkin and cut into cubes. Immediately place the frozen one in a ladle. Add sugar and a couple of tablespoons of water to the pumpkin. Heat the pumpkin, stirring occasionally.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Boil the pumpkin for 8-10 minutes. She will become softer.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

When the millet has absorbed the water, add hot milk to the pan. You can cook porridge with milk and water in different proportions, only with milk and only with water, to your taste. But it turns out much tastier with milk.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add pumpkin. Continue cooking for another 20 minutes. During this time, the millet will significantly increase in size and become soft.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Gradually the porridge becomes thicker and the milk is absorbed into the millet. Pumpkin adds sweetness and flavor to the porridge. To obtain a thinner consistency, you can add a little more milk than indicated in the recipe.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Simple millet porridge with pumpkin is ready! Divide the porridge into bowls and serve hot. You can add a piece of butter or fresh berries. Bon appetit!

For breakfast, I cooked millet porridge with pumpkin for my daughter in a saucepan on the stove. I rarely cook millet in its pure form; I usually mix it with rice. It turned out that millet porridge according to this recipe is surprisingly tasty and tender. I cooked it in water and milk in a 50/50 ratio. I was surprised by the way the grain was processed. I always steam it with boiling water to remove the bitterness. And then you need to fry it in a frying pan. Before frying, I washed the millet well. It dried quickly in the frying pan; I left it for another 5 minutes. I also liked to cook it in water first and then add milk. I stewed the pumpkin in a frying pan, but it was better in a ladle to make it faster. The porridge was cooked quickly, there was enough liquid to obtain a viscous consistency. Pumpkin adds a sweet note and a pleasant aroma. It turned out very tasty.

I wanted to cook porridge for my child for breakfast. I found a great recipe - millet porridge with pumpkin in a pan on the stove. Having frozen pumpkin, I decided to make millet according to this recipe. I had the pumpkin in the freezer, peeled and cut into cubes. I put it in a saucepan with sugar and put it on low heat. She defrosted and became soft. I first boiled the heated millet in water. Then I added milk and soft pumpkin. Cooked everything together until done. After tasting the porridge, I added more sugar and butter. It turned out super delicious! The millet is tender and soft, the pumpkin is aromatic and juicy, the oil gives it a creamy taste. Excellent result - both satisfying and healthy. The child really liked the breakfast. The recipe is great! Thanks to the author!

I love millet milk porridge with pumpkin, but I often cook it in a slow cooker. In addition to pumpkin, I add dried fruits to it: raisins, dried apricots. In this case, I don’t add sugar at all. If someone starts complaining that there is not enough sweets, I put honey directly on the plate. In my opinion, this is the best porridge for children and adults. It is correct, simple, satisfying, satiates for a long time and if you change its taste, it does not get boring.
