Long Island cocktail

One of the most popular and strong drinks. Sweet and sour and maximally alcoholic, the Long Island cocktail has its own, well-recognized taste and aroma. It’s not difficult to prepare it yourself.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a Long Island cocktail? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Long Island is prepared and served in a tall glass called a highball glass. The glass is filled to the top with ice cubes, but I only fill half the glass to suit my taste. I prefer to drink long drinks slowly, and any amount of ice in my glass has time to melt completely, inevitably distorting the taste of the drink. So adjust the amount of ice according to your preferences.

    STEP 2

Pour vodka into a glass. Bartenders use special measuring cups - jiggers. At home, I recommend using a kitchen scale and a regular shot glass.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

    Add sugar syrup.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Next, pour in the dry gin.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add rum. The classic version uses white rum, but you can also use dark rum.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Then pour tequila and orange liqueur into a glass.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Squeeze lemon or lime juice directly into a glass, choose according to your taste preferences. I did both options. Squeeze the juice through a strainer so that no seeds get into the glass. Stir the cocktail with a teaspoon.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

    Top up with classic cola.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Garnish the glass with lemon slices. I cut the lime into segments and added it directly to the cocktail I made with lime juice. The Long Island Ice Tea cocktail is served with two straws. Enjoy your tasting!
