Live serviceberry and cherry jam

Live means no cooking - fast and tasty! In this jam, shadberry and cherries do not undergo heat treatment, but remain fresh. Consequently, all vitamins and microelements are preserved. This type of preparation is much more useful. It’s just better to store it in the freezer.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make jam from serviceberry and live cherries? Irga is a fruitful berry, but it ripens gradually. Therefore, it is convenient to prepare it in small quantities, as much as you rent or buy. Due to its peculiar taste, serviceberry goes well with sour berries and fruits. Add not only cherries, but also currants, raspberries, gooseberries...

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

I love making this jam with cherries; we don’t have fresh cherries yet, but frozen ones are also great. Before freezing, it had already been prepared, that is: the berries were sorted, washed, and seeds removed. And you don't need to defrost it.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Irga is fresh, it was just picked. Therefore, the berries should first be sorted, leaving only whole ones, without damage, and at approximately the same degree of ripeness.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then rinse the berries very carefully, under a slight pressure of cool water. There is no need to dry it, just let the water drain.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Grind a small amount of berries in a blender. Add one at a time, alternating with a small portion of sugar, approximately 1/2 of the sugar will be removed. If there are a lot of berries, it is better to use a meat grinder, only then do not add sugar, but grind one berry.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

The goal is to get a homogeneous berry puree.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Gradually add all the sugar to the resulting puree. Stir until smooth so that the sugar is evenly distributed. Leave on the counter for a while until the sugar is completely dissolved. During this time, stir several more times. Then package it. Use disposable plastic containers for freezing, conveniently 200 ml each. Immediately place in the freezer for long-term storage. A small amount of jam can be kept in the refrigerator, but not for long.
