Lenten lavash

Reveal the secret of making lavash at home. Bakery products in Azerbaijan are baked in special ovens. Bread is usually baked in the form of lavash - an unleavened thin flatbread. But to prepare this food it is not at all necessary to have a special oven in the house. In this culinary recipe we will prove that you can bake equally delicious pita bread using a regular kitchen stove.

We often resort to lavash; I’ve long wanted to make it myself, but I was afraid of ruining the expected result. But this recipe inspires confidence. Tomorrow I will urgently test the recommendations and report back with step-by-step photos.

I did everything strictly according to the recipe, it turned out delicious, but more like matzo, as these flatbreads were very crunchy! And I thought that it would be similar to the Armenian lavash that we sell in stores. It is not crunchy!!! Daria, help me figure out what I did wrong. I'm trying to figure out what I need to change next time I make it. By the way, you don’t indicate how thick the cakes should be, at what temperature the oven should be, and also - the water should be cold or hot, they say this is very important. In a word, your recipe is very good, but help me avoid crunching!!!

No, they don’t turn out like Armenian lavash. But they can be made like this. When the Armenian lavash dries out, I also use this method. The cakes need moisture, you can spray them with a spray bottle and leave them for a while. You can steam it, like you can “refresh” stale bread, just don’t overdo it, because it can get completely soft. I like to make something like hot “chebureks” with filling, with eggs, on this lavash, very tasty! Before cooking, the tortillas need to be soaked in water to make them flexible and moist.
