Italian hot chocolate

This chocolate has a pronounced taste of cinnamon and vanilla. When I hear the phrase “Italian hot chocolate,” I immediately remember the bicherin that I tried in a coffee shop in Turin on the square in front of the royal palace. And although my recipe has nothing to do with bicherin, it is just as tasty and aromatic.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Prepare the ingredients. To make hot chocolate in Italian, we will need: milk, a bar of dark chocolate

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a saucepan with a thick bottom.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour a little milk into the chocolate and melt over low heat, stirring constantly. You should get a homogeneous mass.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Dissolve starch in the remaining milk.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

You need to mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps left of the starch, otherwise you won’t be able to get rid of them in the finished chocolate. To make sure the mixture is homogeneous, it is better to strain it through a fine sieve.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour the milk and starch into the chocolate in a thin stream, stirring constantly. You need to stir quickly enough so that no lumps appear. Stir the mixture until the two types of milk are completely combined.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add sugar, vanillin, ground cinnamon and salt to the saucepan. Stirring constantly, cook the chocolate over low heat until it begins to thicken.

Sometimes you want to pamper yourself and cook something incredibly tasty for your loved one) It’s so good that I found this Italian hot chocolate recipe! It's just a miracle, delicious is not the right word. Making this thick drink is very simple and quick. I prepared one serving, thanks to the convenient calculator, thanks to which you can easily change the proportions of the products. The hot chocolate is incredibly flavorful thanks to the spices. It has a thick consistency, you can dip cookies or marshmallows in it, it envelops perfectly. The taste and aroma of chocolate is very rich! I recommend everyone to cook!

In the city of Odessa, where I live, there is a chocolate museum, in which all the exhibits are made from different types of chocolate. After the tour you are offered a cup of hot chocolate. It tastes different from what I prepared according to the recipe, but it also turned out very well for me. I used dark chocolate 56%, next time I’ll try to take a bar marked 99% and reduce the amount of sugar. The taste still reminded me of jelly, but jelly of the highest quality! Thanks for the recipe.

Good afternoon, Maria! Tell me, please, if I use corn starch, should I replace it in a ratio of 1 to 2? Or can I use less for hot chocolate? Thank you!!!

On New Year's weekend I made Italian hot chocolate using this recipe. I made two small portions. I divided the ingredients in the recipe in half. I used corn starch. I didn't add cinnamon. Added a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla sugar. It turned out very, very tasty, like in a good coffee shop))) The hot chocolate was very aromatic, thick, with a rich, bitter taste. I took one tablespoon of corn starch, that is, the ratio to potato starch was 1 to 2. The hot chocolate turned out thick. Next time I’ll try to use less starch so it’s not so thick, I’ll see how I like it better. Maria, thank you very much for this simple, and at the same time very tasty recipe! Here is my photo report)))
