  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to freeze boletus for the winter in the freezer? Prepare our only ingredient - butter. Butterflies are mushrooms that are quite clean and very tasty, and of course, you simply cannot help but prepare them for future use, so that in the cold winter you can make a dish with the real smell of wild mushrooms. It is best to take small-sized butterflies, and not wormy ones. When picking mushrooms, cut off the mushroom with a knife, leaving the mycelium in the ground. Sort the mushrooms, remove leaves and excess debris.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the mushrooms and be sure to dry them well. Butternuts can be peeled by removing the brown skin on top, but as a rule I don’t do this. To do it or not - choose for yourself.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut large mushrooms into 2-3 parts, leave small ones whole. There are two options for freezing mushrooms: they can be frozen raw or boiled. If you are freezing mushrooms raw, at this stage, place them in containers with a lid or in freezer bags. Keep in mind that if the mushrooms are frozen raw, they will hold their shape and take up much more space in the freezer than if the mushrooms are cooked.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If you decide to freeze boiled mushrooms, then boil water in a saucepan and salt it. Using salt water will also drive out any worms present in the mushrooms.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

As soon as the water boils, add the mushrooms to it.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cook over low heat, constantly skimming off the foam, for about 15 minutes.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Then place the mushrooms in a sieve, rinse with cold water and let the butter mushrooms cool completely. During this time, excess water will drain from them. The mushrooms are ready for freezing.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

You can freeze in plastic containers with a lid or in special freezing bags. In bags, of course, they will take up much less space than in containers, so I freeze them in bags. Arrange the mushrooms in such quantities that they are enough for one serving, because thawed mushrooms cannot be re-frozen.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Tie the bags and put them in the freezer. It is advisable to freeze food in turbo mode, at a fairly low temperature of -18-20 degrees.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

This is what frozen boletus mushrooms look like, frozen raw. Thaw frozen mushrooms gradually, first in the refrigerator and only then at room temperature. Read about the intricacies of defrosting in a separate article at the end of the recipe. Bon appetit!

We walked through the forest and collected boletus. I found a recipe on how to freeze boletus for the winter. I decided to make a blank, following the author’s advice. First, I sorted through the mushrooms, then cleaned them, removing the skin from the cap. I washed the mushrooms and cut the large ones into several pieces. Boil the boletus in salted water as described in the recipe. Placed it on a sieve and cooled. There is not much space in the freezer, so, on the author’s advice, I put the cooked butternuts in bags and froze them in the “super freezing” mode. The preparation turned out great. They don’t take up much space; the mushrooms are already peeled and boiled. In winter, you can take out the butter and put it straight into the frying pan. Thanks to the author for the idea!
