  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make horns in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Horns can be used of any type and size. Read more about the intricacies of choosing pasta in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Boil water in a saucepan of suitable volume, add salt and pour in the horns. Cook the cones over a moderate simmer, stirring occasionally, until al dente, meaning slightly undercooked. For the cooking time recommended by the manufacturer, see the packaging. Place the finished horns in a colander to drain.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Prepare the béchamel cheese sauce. Melt butter in a frying pan. Read about how to choose the perfect frying pan in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add flour to the pan and mix with butter. Heat the flour over low heat, stirring, until golden brown, about 1 minute.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour a small amount of warm milk into the pan, at the same time stir and grind the lumps of flour. This is easier to do in a small amount of liquid.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

When the mass becomes homogeneous, pour in the remaining milk and stir.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Salt the sauce, add nutmeg (optional), Provençal herbs. Stir. You can add ground black pepper. Over moderate heat, stirring, bring the sauce to a boil. Boil the sauce until slightly thickened.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Grate the cheese on a fine grater. You can take any cheese: hard, semi-hard, soft. The main thing is that it is tasty, without milk fat substitutes and melts well. Save some cheese for the top.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Add grated cheese to the sauce.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Stir well until the cheese is completely melted. Remove the sauce from the heat.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

In a small bowl, beat the egg until smooth.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Place the cones in a bowl. Add the beaten egg to the horns and stir.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Pour in the sauce, mix well.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Grease a baking dish (I have a diameter of 23 cm) with a small amount of butter or vegetable oil. For a useful article on choosing a form, read the link at the end of the recipe. Pour the resulting mixture into the mold and smooth it out.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the cones.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Bake the horns in an oven preheated to 180 C for about 30 minutes until lightly browned. Cooking time and mode may vary. Install them based on the operating characteristics of your oven. For important information on this topic, see the link at the end of the recipe.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Serve the finished horns with fresh herbs and vegetables. Bon appetit!

Horns in the oven, and even with white sauce, it’s so delicious! And it's easy and quick to cook. It’s also a great way to hide overcooked pasta, and it happens) I really love the sauce, it’s so tender! It is best to stir it with a whisk and you need to keep an eye on it, it thickens quickly. I not only added cheese to the sauce, but also sprinkled a little of it on top. When I mixed the pasta with the sauce, I realized that I needed to add something to make it filling. I had a bag of baked chicken fillet in the freezer, already chopped. I defrosted it a little and added it to the total mass. I baked it as per the recipe for 30 minutes. The casserole cuts perfectly into pieces even when hot, all the ingredients are well held together. It's very tasty and satisfying. The casserole is tender, creamy, very pleasant.

I made the horns in the oven. It turned out very tasty! I cook pasta in various versions quite often, but when it’s macaroni with cheese and sauce a la béchamel, it’s a win-win! Everyone was delighted!
