Honey baklava
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
Let's prepare the ingredients. All products must be removed from the refrigerator in advance so that they are at room temperature.
STEP 2
Place softened butter in a bowl; if you don’t have time to wait for it to soften at room temperature, you can soften it in the microwave at low power. Add sour cream there and beat in one chicken egg. Mix everything thoroughly using a tablespoon or blender.
STEP 3
Pour in the sifted flour and combined with baking powder. Knead the elastic, smooth dough very quickly. You may need a little more or less flour, depending on the density and quality of the product.
STEP 4
We collect it into a ball. We wrap the dough in cling film and put it in the refrigerator while we make the filling for the baklava. Thanks to this operation, the dough will be flaky, which is what the recipe requires.
STEP 5
You can use any nuts for the filling, you can use a mixture of walnuts, peanuts and almonds. But there should be more walnuts, immediately put 22 pieces of walnut halves aside, they will be needed to decorate the baklava.
STEP 6
We thoroughly wash the nuts and dry them in the microwave.
STEP 7
Put them in a blender bowl, add sugar and cinnamon, grind them, but so that they are larger than crumbs. The blender can be replaced with a simple meat grinder or rolling pin.
STEP 8
Take the dough out of the refrigerator and divide it into 7 parts. We roll each layer into a rectangular layer about 0.3 centimeters thick. The filling for baklava should be divided into six equal parts.
STEP 9
Place the first layer in a greased form. We spread the nut filling on top, and do the same with the entire dough. The top layer of dough remains without filling.
STEP 10
We cut the dough with filling into parallel strips, but do not reach the bottom with a knife. Then we also cut diagonally without touching the last layer of dough to form diamonds.
STEP 11
Brush the top of the dough with beaten egg. Place a piece of walnut in the middle of each diamond. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place the baklava in the oven for 15 minutes.
STEP 12
Melt the butter. Remove the baklava from the oven and pour melted butter over it. Renew the cuts if necessary. Put the baklava in the oven for another half hour.
STEP 13
Preparing honey filling. Cook the sugar syrup on the stove by combining sugar and water and cook until slightly thickened. Then add honey to the mixture and mix.
STEP 14
Remove the baklava from the oven and pour in the honey filling. Let it soak a little and cool. We cut it to the end, put it on a dish and serve. Enjoy your tea!
