Homemade colored dough dumplings for children
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
To make the dumplings multi-colored, we will use natural dyes. Extract the juice from the carrots using a juicer. We also squeeze the juice out of raw beets. Grind the parsley in a blender with the addition of a small amount of water. Then squeeze the resulting mixture through a sieve or cheesecloth. You can use spinach instead of parsley. Let's start preparing the dough.
STEP 2
Break the egg and beat with a fork. I will make three types of dough, and one egg will be enough for all three types. Take carrot juice. Pour 1/3 of the eggs into it. Add a little salt and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Then gradually add 150 grams of sifted flour. Mix the dough. You may need a little more or less flour. Mix the dough with beet juice in the same way. Add butter, 1/3 eggs, salt, 150 grams of flour
STEP 3
We do the same with green parsley juice. Wrap the dough in cling film. And let it “rest” for 15-20 minutes. Prepare the minced meat for the dumplings. I took chicken breast. I crushed it using a blender. Added finely chopped onion, salt and pepper. You can add a little pork or beef to the chicken meat. My kids love chicken dumplings.
STEP 4
Roll out each piece of colored dough with a rolling pin. To prevent the dough from sticking, sprinkle it with a little flour. Using a glass or shot glass, cut out circles. Place the minced meat in the middle. You can add minced meat with a teaspoon. You can use a pastry bag. Alternatively, you can put the minced meat in a plastic bag and cut off the corner. In my opinion, it’s faster than using a spoon. Pinch the edges of the dough. We give the dumplings a traditional look.
STEP 5
Dumplings can be frozen for future use. Or you can cook it right away. To do this, place the dumplings in boiling salted water. At the beginning of cooking, I recommend stirring the dumplings. After the dumplings have floated to the surface and the water has boiled again, cook for 5-6 minutes. Since we use natural dyes, keep in mind that the color of the dough fades a little when cooked. Serve the dumplings with sour cream or any favorite sauce. Dumplings are just as tasty with broth.
