STEP 1

How to make jam from green tomatoes? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
STEP 2

First of all, you need to prepare the tomatoes. To do this, rinse them and cook over moderate heat for 15 minutes. Drain the water and boil the tomatoes again. This is necessary in order to remove the bitterness from them.
STEP 3

Prepare the syrup. To do this, mix sugar and 150 ml of water in a thick-bottomed saucepan, bring to a boil and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved.
STEP 4

Add tomatoes to the syrup, stir and cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes, then remove the pan from the stove and leave to steep for 8-10 hours. After this time, boil the tomatoes again for 15-20 minutes and again leave them to steep for 8 hours. Thanks to this, the tomatoes will be saturated with syrup and retain their appearance.
STEP 5

Zest half a lemon and squeeze out the juice.
STEP 6

After the tomatoes have soaked in the syrup for the second time, add lemon juice and zest to them. Bring the jam to a boil and simmer over low heat for 20-25 minutes.
STEP 7

Wash the jars in which you will roll the jam and their lids thoroughly with soda and sterilize them in a way convenient for you.
STEP 8

Place the hot jam into jars, roll up the lids on the jars, turn them upside down and cover with a warm towel. Leave them like this until they cool completely. Good luck with your preparations and bon appetit!
