  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make gravy with flour and tomato paste? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Take odorless vegetable oil.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the pre-peeled onions and cut into small cubes.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Heat vegetable oil slightly in a frying pan and add chopped onion. Fry the onion over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add tomato paste to the pan with the onions and stir.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Fry the onion with tomato paste, stirring, for 1-2 minutes.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Dilute the flour in a small amount of cold water, grind until the lumps of flour completely disappear. This is much easier to do in a small volume of liquid.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add diluted flour to the pan and stir.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Gradually pour in the rest of the water, while vigorously stirring the mixture. Increase the heat until the gravy comes to a boil. Add salt and sugar. Add dry seasonings and spices, being guided by your taste and desire. I used herbs de Provence and dried basil. Add bay leaf to the gravy and mix well. Cover the pan with a lid and cook the gravy at a moderate boil for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Then reduce the heat to low and simmer the gravy under the lid closed for about 10 minutes. During this time, the gravy will change color to a more saturated one and thicken a little. Seasonings and spices will reveal their taste and add aroma. With the specified proportions of flour and water, the gravy is of medium thickness. By increasing or decreasing the amount of water, the density can be adjusted up or down. Remove the bay leaf from the finished gravy.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Tomato sauce is universal; it goes well with buckwheat and rice. And especially suitable for pasta and meat cutlets, meatballs. Bon appetit!

The gravy with flour and tomato paste helped me a lot. It was necessary to come up with some kind of addition to spaghetti, but it would be lean. It’s boring to just season with ketchup, but a gravy this rich in flavor is just right) After reading the recipe, I thought that the tomato mass had been stewing for too long, but during the cooking process it became clear that the time indicated in the recipe was correct. I took the same amount of food, and in the end I ended up with exactly half a liter of gravy. Cooking features: flour really needs to be diluted in water, and not poured into a frying pan. This way the sauce will be homogeneous. When you add the flour mixture, the mixture thickens quickly; you need to stir it quickly and immediately add the rest of the water. The gravy must be stirred with a whisk throughout the cooking time to prevent it from burning. The gravy turned out thick, tasty, spicy. It's a great addition to spaghetti! I put the rest in the refrigerator, where it thickened even more, but when reheated it became more liquid again. My husband appreciated the taste of this sauce and asked me to make more)

Thanks for the recipe! It’s really important to pour this sauce over pasta during Lent. Personally, I’m always drawn to something spicy.

An excellent gravy and not just for pasta, I think. I like it with porridge, for example, with buckwheat... In general, as for the second course, I like everything with this gravy...)) And add a cutlet here or fried meat and it will be an excellent dinner. It’s so great that this site exists, you can find something new and fresh and then cook it.

I love pasta with all sorts of gravies and sauces... I’ve added it to my stash... especially the spicy one for my husband is just right. And if you add minced meat (you can use any kind of meat - even chicken will do, in general, whatever you like), pre-boiled and fried ( not much, but only until half cooked) and simmer with this gravy over low heat for 15-20 minutes, you will get gravy a la Bolognese. Sorry for bringing my samovar to your “monastery,” but I was just expressing my thoughts. thanks for the recipe
