  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make yeast pies with potatoes in a frying pan? We will need the simplest and most inexpensive products, prepare them in advance. Sift the flour through a fine sieve to saturate it with oxygen. Wash the potatoes well and dry. Peel the onion, wash and dry.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Start by kneading the dough. We will not put any dough, but will immediately knead the dough from all the ingredients. First, mix all the “dry” ingredients: part of the flour (about 2 cups), dry yeast, salt and sugar.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Make a well in the flour. Pour half a glass of vegetable oil into the dry ingredients.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add warm (about 40 degrees) water to the flour. Attention, the water should not be too hot so as not to kill the yeast. Thanks to warm water, the dough rises very quickly.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add the remaining flour in parts and start kneading the elastic dough. You may need a little more or less flour. The dough should not stick to your hands, but should not be too tough. Cover the dough with a clean towel and leave to rise for literally 20-30 minutes while the potatoes for the filling are cooked. It is advisable to place the dough next to the stove so that the steam from the potatoes helps the dough rise.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

While the dough is rising, make the filling. Peel the potatoes, wash them and boil them in salted water. Then drain the water and mash the potatoes. It is better to do this with the help of a masher.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Finely chop the peeled onion. Then fry the onion in vegetable oil until golden brown.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Season the mashed potatoes with fried onions and mix well. The filling for the pies is ready.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

The dough rose well during this time. We didn't touch him. Now let’s knead it and immediately start making pies. Punch down the dough with your hands and knead it for about 3-5 minutes.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

The dough is very pliable and elastic, so we will not use a rolling pin, but will do everything with our hands greased with vegetable oil. Place a plate of butter next to you, dip your hands and begin tearing off pieces of the same size from the dough, thus making preparations for future pies.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Place a frying pan with oil on the stove to heat. And start making the first pies. Use your hand to shape a piece of dough into a flat cake, not necessarily nice and even, the pies will still rise and all the unevenness will be hidden. Place the filling, it should be half the size of the dough. Although this is optional, you can add more.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Bring the edges of the dough together and seal them into a pie shape. Immediately place it in a frying pan, placing it seam side down in boiling oil. Make the next pie in the same way. Everything needs to be done very quickly. If you want, you can make all the pies in advance, and only then fry them.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

The pies noticeably increased in size during frying. Place the finished pies on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Serve fried pies with yeasted potatoes with lightly salted cucumbers or with tea, as you like. Bon appetit!

The dough is great! This was my first time making yeast pies with potatoes in a frying pan. The dough is tender, with a crispy crust! Not pies, but a fairy tale. True, I went too far with the size))) Thanks for the recipe)))

High in calories, but really very tasty. I would like to offer another successful recipe. The dough is yeast-free, kneaded with kefir, but the pies are also fluffy and soft.

It’s high in calories, I agree, but it’s so delicious!) I cook potato pies a little differently. I knead the dough with kefir, it turns out no worse than with yeast.
