STEP 1

How to bake meat in French with cheese and tomatoes in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Choose the fattier part of the pork - shoulder or neck. You can also use any other meat. But remember that the cooking time will change. For example, beef will take longer to bake than pork, and chicken or turkey less. Choose tomatoes that are ripe, juicy and firm. Fruits that are too soft will be difficult to cut. Turn the oven on 180 degrees.
STEP 2

Wash the meat thoroughly under running water and dry with paper towels. If necessary, use a knife to remove tendons and membranes. Cut the piece across the grain into thin, wide slices about 1 cm thick. Place the meat on a cutting board. Cover with a plastic bag or cling film. This is necessary so that when beating, splashes of meat juice do not scatter in all directions. Using a kitchen hammer, beat each piece on both sides.
STEP 3

Remove the film. Season the chops with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with paprika. Paprika can be replaced with ready-made spices intended for pork. Or choose spices to suit your taste. Provencal herbs, basil, marjoram, and oregano are suitable. If you have time, put the meat in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to marinate. This will make it even tastier.
STEP 4

Grease the baking dish with a small amount of refined olive or sunflower oil. Place pork chops in a single layer.
STEP 5

Peel the onion. Thinly slice it into half rings. To prevent the onion from stinging your eyes, rinse it and your knife with cold water. If you use white or Yalta onions instead of onions, the taste of the dish will acquire a sweetish note and will not be bitter at all. Place onion rings over meat.
STEP 6

Wash the tomatoes and dry them with paper towels. If necessary, remove their tails. Using a sharp knife, cut the tomatoes into thin rings. Place them on top of the onions. Fresh vegetables can be replaced with tomato sauce or omitted from the recipe altogether. But it will be tastier and juicier with them.
STEP 7

Lightly brush the tomato layer with mayonnaise. If for some reason you don’t like mayonnaise, replace it with sour cream.
STEP 8

Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Sprinkle it generously over the tomato layer. The more cheese you add, the tastier it will be. You can use varieties such as Russian, Edam or Adygei. The main thing is that the product is of high quality, tasty and aromatic. The cheese should be baked in this dish, so it’s better to add it right away. But if you want it to just melt, add it 15 minutes before the end of cooking.
STEP 9

Cover the cheese with a thick mayonnaise mesh.
STEP 10

Bake the meat in French for about 40-50 minutes at 180 degrees. To ensure the meat is baked better and the cheese does not burn, cover the pan with foil. Remove it 15-20 minutes before the end. Bake until a delicious cheesy crust forms. How to check the readiness of a dish? Poke the point of a knife through the middle. If clear juice flows out, it’s ready. If the juice is pinkish, cook for another 10 minutes. Bon appetit!
